New bodies expected at the Skydome amid Blaze shortbench dilemma

Coventry Editorial 2nd Jan, 2018   0

ICE HOCKEY: NEW bodies are expected to arrive at the Skydome Arena this month to boost Danny Stewart’s squad ahead of a hectic January schedule.

Blaze lost both Patrik Moisio and Edgars Bebris before the new year, both leaving due to a lack of ice time available to them.

Moisio and Bebris absences left Blaze shortbenched over Christmas, a time which they won just one out of five games – the four losses being by just one goal.

Speaking to The Observer after Monday night’s loss against the Panthers, Stewart said: “We can’t go into the second half with only nine forwards.

“We’ll be looking to strengthen our back end too.

“I’m hoping the directors will give me the green light for an extra guy too to add some competition and provide injury cover.

“We’re looking to improve our club on a daily basis.”
