FOOTBALL: SKY Blues boss Mark Robins was left frustrated after Coventry City wasted another opportunity to secure their spot in the top three of the SkyBet League Two table.
Robins, who took charge of the Sky Blues in March, described City’s performance at Exeter as uncharacteristic and added poor decision making cost his side points.
“Today was totally unlike us,” said Robins.
“We were unnerved a little by the presence of Jayden Stockley up front and we did not deal with him very well at all.
“We gave them a goal and a really poor one at that. As soon as we did that we were on the back foot.
“They played very much unlike an Exeter team because of the way the pitch has cut up, but that is up to them and we have to deal with that.
“I am disappointed, and it is another really good opportunity wasted.”
To add insult to injury, the Sky Blues weren’t short of chances themselves. And they came close on several occasions to equalising.
Max Biamou’s hard work went unrewarded again while Marc McNulty and Jordan Ponticelli had good efforts denied.
Robins said: “We should have at least been on level terms going into the second half.
“Again, we could not take out chances.
“Their ‘keeper has made some brilliant saves right at the death and our work to get into those areas was good.
“We need some help in the attack and we are trying to do that.”
Robins also admitted a lack of goals for forward Biamou is weighing on his mind.
He added: “It is clearly weighing on Max Biamou’s mind.
“I can see that in the dressing room. We need some support and some help in that department.
“At the end of the game we had plenty of lads on who can convert chances. Jordan Ponticelli was unlucky not to equalise.
“It is very disappointing, and we could, and should, have had more.”
