Man in 80s killed in hit-and-run incident in Coventry

A man in his 80s has died after being hit by a car in a hit and run incident in Burnaby Road, Coventry, at around 10.55pm.

People living nearby who heard the collision on Saturday night (May 12) discovered the elderly man lying injured in the road and called for the ambulance service.

His injuries were so severe that he died at the scene.

Detective Constable Chris Ridge of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit: “We know that the car was a blue BMW and that it would have sustained damage to the passenger wing mirror and possibly the windscreen.  It was driving from the direction of Holbrook Lane towards The Scotchill.

“We need to find out the identity of the driver, and are appealing for them to come forward, so they can give their account of what happened.”

“I would also appeal to members of the public to keep a look out for any blue BMWs with corresponding damage and contact us with any information on 101 quoting log number 2820 of 12 May.  Alternatively the Serious Collision Investigation Unit can be emailed directly via [email protected] .”
