Another major fire in Coventry has spread from a garage

A LARGE fire has broken out in a garage in Coventry – setting alight a van inside and spreading to a nearby building.

The blaze in Coventry Street, Stoke, Coventry, has been contained by 10 firefighters.

A photo posted on Twitter shows a large black smoke cloud looming over the city.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 3.09pm concerning a fire on Coventry Street, Stoke.




“Two fire engines are at the scene – one from Binley and one from Coventry fire station.

“There are 10 firefighters in total attending.


“They have got the fire surrounded.

“The incident involves a garage – which is around eight by five metres.

“It is well alight.

“One van is inside the building and has also caught fire.

“The fire has also spread to a nearby building.

“Breathing apparatus is being used as well as two hose fuel jets.

“One male is being treated by us for smoke inhalation, but there are no other injuries and the situation is under control.

“We have called the ambulance service for support.”
