COVENTRY School of Taekwon-Do tasted success at the World Championships in Birmingham.
Hosted by the Taekwon-Do Association of Great Britain, 22 countries sent their competitors to the Second City to compete in an exciting selection of events.
The two-day tournament saw the world’s best fighters, patterns technicians and destruction champions come together to battle it out for the title of world champion.
There was also the amateur coloured belt divisions where people of all ages and abilities could try their skill alongside the great champions.
Eight-year-old David Gornisiewicz, a blue belt, fought his way to victory to win gold in the prestigious event.
Instructor Russell Bromage said: “David has progressed really well since starting Taekwon-Do almost two years ago.
“He has become a natural at sparring and relishes the competitive aspect.
“I’m really pleased and proud of him as he took aboard advice, executed a plan and it shows what can be achieved with effort and determination.”
