Man seriously injured after A45 crash involving two lorries

ONE MAN is seriously injured after a crash involving two lorries on the A45 in Coventry while police advise the road will be closed ‘most of the evening’.

Two men have been taken to hospital after the collision on the Birmingham Road near Meriden at 1.20pm today (October 12).

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and deployed the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

A WMAS spokeswoman said: “The emergency services arrived on scene to find a collision involving two HGVs.




“The driver of one vehicle, a man, was seriously injured and received trauma care by the team of ambulance staff on scene before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to a major trauma centre.

“The second driver, a man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital for further checks.”


A West Midlands Police alert said: “The A45 Birmingham Road is currently closed before Meriden, in the direction of Birmingham.

“Two men were taken to hospital after the collision. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“Please AVOID this area as the road will be closed for some time.”

West Midlands Police also tweeted in reference to the A45 collision: “We are dealing with a collision. Please avoid the area as it is likely to be closed for most of the evening.”
