A MAN has been charged with manslaughter after Addison Packeer was shot dead in Coventry last Friday (December 7).

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said yesterday night: “Detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Coventry have today (Tuesday, December 11) charged a man with manslaughter.

“Addison Packeer, 27, was found with serious head injuries at an address in Chepstow Close, Willenhall. A post mortem revealed he died from a gunshot wound.

“This afternoon, Jordan Bassett, 25, of Tintagel Close, Willenhall, Coventry, was charged with manslaughter and possession of a firearm.

“He has been remanded in custody to appear before city magistrates tomorrow (Wednesday, December 12).”

Detective inspector Caroline Corfield, from the force’s homicide team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Packeer’s family and we have specialist officers supporting them during this deeply distressing time.

“We have been following a number of lines of enquiry and I would still urge anyone with information, and who has not spoken to us already, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
