A BOY, 15, has been stabbed in Coventry city centre.

The incident took place in Trinity Street yesterday evening (February 2).

A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was stabbed in Coventry.

“Officers were directed to Trinity Street just before 6pm following reports of a disorder involving male youths and found a 15-year-old who’d suffered knife injuries to his leg and lower torso.

“The victim was treated in hospital and discharged just after midnight; his injuries are not life changing.

“Enquiries are on-going, accounts have been taken from witnesses and an extensive CCTV trawl of city centre cameras is underway.

“A Dispersal Order was later authorised by senior officers giving police powers to move on any groups hanging around in the city centre if it’s suspected they could be a crime or anti-social behaviour threat.

“The Order is in place until Monday – and anyone who returns to the designated area after being moved on by police risks being arrested.

“Additional officers will be patrolling the city centre today for added reassurance.

“Anyone who saw what happened – or who saw teenagers running away from the scene – is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101 or Live Chat at WMP Online.

“Alternatively people can pass information anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111; calls are not recorded and callers won’t be asked for their names.”
