A COVENTRY primary school will soon benefit from speed reduction measures – including a 20mph limit – after dangerous parking and speeding concerns.
Cheylesmore ward councillors have supported a campaign by Manor Park Primary School on Ulverscroft Road after several recent accidents.
Coventry City Council made the announcement yesterday citing long-held staff and parents concerns as a reason for introducing the measures.
Ward councillors say they have been working closely with parents, the school and road safety teams to come up with improvements.
Councillor Richard Brown said: “20mph advisory reflective signs will be going up in Ulverscroft Road and Brightwalton Road in the next couple of months to help reduce vehicle speeds and our traffic safety team will be looking to see if any further measures can be introduced.
“To improve the parking situation we will be blacking out the markings for the disused bus stops so it is obvious people can park there and we have been outside the school at peak times to talk to those who are parking unsafely.
“Once we’ve investigated the possibilities of any other measures, we’ll be consulting further with the school and local residents.”
The 20mph signs are due to go up by early April.
