A POLICE officer has been hit by a car after stopping a van suspected of being involved in a robbery.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police stopped a silver Ford Transit van, suspected of being involved in a robbery, on Copperfield Road, Coventry, at 4.15pm yesterday (March 30).
“While at the scene dealing with the incident, an officer was hit by a silver Vauxhall Insignia. A police car was also damaged.
“The occupants of the Insignia fled the scene. Copperfield Road was closed for several hours to allow for the vehicles to be recovered.
“The officer was taken to hospital with leg injuries, but has since been discharged.
