A POLICE car was rammed in Coventry as two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbery – while an appeal has been launched to trace a third suspect.

Coventry Police is seeking a key witness after a third male escaped in a Silver Audi A1 after ditching a dark grey Seat Leon – driven by the three suspects – which is thought to have been stolen.

A spokesperson said: “We are appealing for a key witness to come forward after a teenager fled from officers before getting into an Audi on Sumbeam Way, Stoke Aldemoor, Coventry, at 7.15pm last night (April 1).

“Officers on patrol attempted to stop a suspected stolen dark grey Seat Leon, before it rammed the police car and attempted to drive off.

“The offenders tried to flee the scene but officers caught up with them and two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

“One of the teenagers was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and burglary. They remain in police custody.

“We believe a witness saw the third teenager leaving the Seat Leon and getting into an Silver Audi A1 that was waiting for them.

“We are urgently appealing for this member of the public to contact us, as they could hold a vital piece of information.
