BOYBAND Busted have been announced as the first headline act at this year’s Godiva Festival.

Festival organisers have confirmed that Busted will perform on Sunday, July 7.

The trio formed in 2000 and sold over five million records around the world, with eight UK Top 10 hits, such as ‘Crashed the Wedding’, ‘Year 3000’, ‘Air Hostess’ and ‘What I Go To School For’.

Two of their albums have been certified triple platinum and their latest single, ‘Shipwrecked in Atlantis’ was released in January this year.

The group are the first act announced for Godiva Festival’s 2019 bill and organisers are hard at work programming the rest of the line-up.

Andy Williams, Director of Business, Investment & Culture at Coventry City Council, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to announce our first act for 2019 and we’ve got plenty more to come.

“We know lots of people look forward and plan ahead for the festival so it’s good that we can announce one of our headliners now.

“I’m sure this year will prove as popular as ever, especially now it’s returned to its regular early summer slot.

“We hope this year will continue to be as popular as always and we’ll be sure to announce further acts and artists over the next few weeks!”

The festival will take place on the weekend of July 5 to 7, in the city’s War Memorial Park.
