BRINKLOW’s under-14s ran riot in the Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League Division D on Sunday, subjecting Rugby Town Cougars to a 13-1 thrashing.
The Cougars, bottom of the league with a point to their name, were brutally torn apart by the in-form visitors – who put them to the sword in with their clinical finishing in the first-half.
Ryan Prior scored the first two of an eventual hat-trick to put Brinklow ahead, before Arjun-Veer Singh Sembi, Dan Frodsham, Matty Natawidjaja and Harvey Mellet added to the scoring.
Harry Shorten then struck a brace, before Prior claimed his hat-trick to put the visitors 9-0 up at the break.
Showing respect to the Cougars, Brinklow were not quite as goal-happy as in the opening half, but still found the net four more times.
Jack Leigh swung in a stunning free kick, whilst Shorten wrapped up his hat-trick, followed by Kye Gilbey’s strike.
Christian Vaughan scored a consolation for the hosts, but it was Dylan Smith who rounded off the scoring with the last kick of the game.
The stunning showing moves Brinklow up to third, prior to their final game of the season, when they host Rugby Town Saints.
