SIX SUSPECTS have been arrested in a Coventry drugs raid which uncovered weapons and substances – including a makeshift spear.
Police smashed through a reinforced door at a flat in Jenner Street, Foleshill, yesterday (May 14) at 10am after concerns were raised by the public.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson: “This makeshift ‘spear’ constructed from a kitchen knife taped to a broom handle was recovered as we raided a drugs den in Coventry today.
“Officers smashed through the door, plus a second reinforced metal door, of a flat following community concerns the property was being used by heroin and crack cocaine dealers.
“Two men aged 18 and 19 were arrested in a rear garden having jumped from a window, while women aged 19 and 34, a 46-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were detained inside.
“All six have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and remain in police custody.
“A search of the property uncovered several weapons, including the spear, a quantity of brown powder suspected to be heroin and dealer wraps of white powder.
“The warrant came around thanks largely to information passed to us by concerned members of the public who reported suspicious comings and goings at the address.
“We always take community concerns seriously and value any information passed to us…and as today’s operation shows we will take decisive action.
“Anyone who suspects drug dealing in their community can contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at WMP Online, call 101 or pass information anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
