A CHARITY ‘rap-athon’ helped raise hundreds of pounds for the BBC Children in Need appeal, and may have rhymed a Coventry youth club into the Guinness book of records.

Young people from Fridays youth club, based at the West Indian Community Centre, spent all day on November 15 in a continuous rap at the Albany Theatre.

They were trying to break the world record for the longest continuous group rap.

Tyler Campbell, who started the Fridays youth club, said: “It was all really good, we managed to keep the rap-athon going from 9am to 9pm, which should get us into the record book, we’re just having it verified.

“The day raised £330 for Children in Need. We had great support from McDonalds and Warwick SU, with it going out on the BBC.”

Nationwide, the BBC’s charity telethon, raised £47.9 million for disadvantaged youngsters across the UK.
