LOCAL girl Kelli Marie Willis, from Ryton-on-Dunsmore near Coventry, was among the girlband winning the latest version of the X-Factor.

The grand finale of the ‘last-minute’ X Factor series was held at the Resorts World Arena in Solihull on December 15.

Jed Thomas, 16, from Meriden, was also grouped with boy band ‘Unwritten Rule’.

Show guru Simon Cowell created the series in a matter of days, changing the talent show’s format to search for Britain’s ‘newest pop supergroup.’

Cowell joined Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger with industry experts Leona Lewis, Ella Eyre and Naughty Boy. Following ‘X Factor – Celebrities’, X Factor: The Band was a week long knockout singing show which pitched a boy band against a girl band.

Kelli Marie, 17, took the title with Jess Folley, 16, Luena Martinez, 20, Seorsia Leagh Jack, 18, Virginia Hampson, 17, and Halle Williams, 19.

Audition episodes on Wednesday 11 and Friday December 13 were also filmed at Resorts World Arena.

It is rumoured the new X Factor format was brought forward, as former competition winners Little Mix recently agreed a talent search show with the BBC for the new year.
