TWO people have been charged by police as officers investigate an arson attack in Coventry.
Police say they were called to reports of a fire on the balcony of a flat in Ferrers Close, Tile Hill just after 10pm on January 2.
Dean Fisher, aged 22, of Ferrers Close in Tile Hill has been charged with arson and will appear at Warwick Crown Court on February 7.
Natasha Boazman, aged 19, of Cobb Lane in the Bournville area of Birmingham has been charged with arson and will also appear at Warwick Crown Court on February 7.
Following the blaze, West Midlands Fire Service said: “We had a call at 9.44pm to a flat in Ferrers Close, Tile Hill, to attend attend a severe fire on the balcony of a high rise.
“There were three fire engines sent with a total of 15 firefighters. They were wearing breathing apparatus and using water hoses to put out a fire on a tenth floor balcony.
“Within half an hour the fire was out and all residents were accounted for.
“The housing association has rehoused one person, the fire was confined to a balcony.”
A spokesperson for Citizen, the housing association managing the flats, said: “West Midlands Fire Service attended a fire at Ferrers Close on the evening of January 2. They were at the scene within minutes and were able to extinguish the fire straight away.
“The fire resulted in some damage to the balcony and window of the flat involved, which we are in the process of repairing. No one was injured and there has been no impact on other residents who remain in their homes.”
