A DISCO for disabled people is going from strength to strength at a Coventry pub.
The Old Clarence pub, at Hearsall Common, hosts a Thursday night ‘Awareness Disco’.
Running for six years, the night welcomes people of any ages with a disability who love to dance but require special assistance or a supportive environment.
The Old Clarence teamed up with former disability support worker, Janet Jones, aka Lady J, to host the night, 7 to 9pm.
Guests look forward to themed discos throughout the year including a competition for the best Halloween costume, birthday shout-outs and festive fun with Christmas gifts.
Janet Jones, founder of the Awareness Disco, said: “The turnout of the disco has been incredible. I came up with the idea to create the event so people with a disability can enjoy a night out in a safe and supportive environment. Before we kicked off the first disco, I spent six months learning to mix music.”
Christopher Mason, General Manager at The Old Clarence Pub, said: “We were delighted when Janet approached us to host ‘The Awareness Disco’. It is a great evening and all of the team go out of their way to make guests feel welcome.
“Our disco nights are packed out! It is incredible to see people coming from far and wide to party with us and I would love to see some new faces come and join the fun.”
Tickets are £4 per person and guests with any type of disability are welcome. Entry for carers accompanying guests is free of charge.
