A SCHOOL in Solihull is to close tomorrow due to coronavirus concerns.

Bishop Wilson Primary School will be temporarily closed tomorrow (Friday March 6).

A statement from Solihull Council this afternoon reads: “The school leadership team took the decision to close in order to undertake a deep clean, as a precaution only, in the best interests of pupils and staff.

“This follows a member of staff coming into contact with an individual who has Coronavirus. The member of staff has not displayed any symptoms and it remains the case that there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Solihull.

“The staff member has called 111, and is following medical advice.

“The school plans to open as normal on Monday 9 March.”

The school in Chelmunds Cross, Chelmsley Wood has issued a letter to parents on its website.

Its headmaster Mr Rickets he had sought advice from Public Health England and Public Health Solihull and that their advice was that the school did not need to close.

He added it was doing so in the best interests of pupils and staff.

It follows the closure last week as a precaution of Kingshurst academy in Solihull after people had reported flu-like symptoms following a school ski trip to Italy.
