A TEENAGER has died after he was shot in the back on a street in Coventry this afternoon (March 13).
As they launched a murder investigation, detectives at West Midlands Police said: “A man was shot dead in Coventry today (Friday 13 March).
“Officers were called to Arnside Close near to the junction of Clifton Street in the Hillfields area, after a report of a shooting just after 2.30pm.
“A 19-year-old man was found with a serious injury to his back and was taken to hospital where he sadly died soon after. His family are now being supported by specialist officers.”
Chief Inspector Scott Griffiths from the homicide team, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information on today’s shooting to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“We are committed to finding those responsible and would urge anyone with dashcam or phone footage of what happened before or after the incident to speak to us.
“We are interested in hearing from anyone who saw a black VW Golf R, with light coloured or silver wing mirrors and five spoke alloy wheels, in the area acting suspiciously too.”

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called by the police at 2.37pm to reports of a shooting in Arnside Close near to Clifton Street, Coventry. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car with medics on board from the The Air Ambulance Service attended the scene.
“One man received advanced trauma care on scene before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to hospital. His condition is described as serious.”
