Man returned to prison as police investigate assault on paramedics

A MAN who was wanted by police for breaching bail conditions has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting paramedics.

Officers arrested the 30-year-old, who is originally from Acocks Green, in Coventry garden on Tuesday afternoon (May 19).

Police believe he is connected to an incident where a paramedic was punched in the face, on May 16.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Following a public appeal, the 30-year-old man was arrested by our officers on suspicion of assaulting two paramedics.

“The paramedics had been called to help an unconscious man when they were attacked in Stratford Street. One of the paramedics was punched in the face and the work tablet they use to update patient records was also smashed.

“The incident saw the team taken off the frontline for a number of hours and prevented them from helping patients in need of emergency care.

“Although the man we arrested remains under investigation for this attack, he’s already been returned to prison to serve out the remainder of his sentence after breaching his licence conditions by failing to meet his probation officer and breaching his curfew.”
