FIREFIGHTERS are urging residents to take the 999 Challenge.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people of all ages to have some fun and help raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Running until September 9, the idea is to complete a challenge with a nine in it, and then making a donation to the charity. Once finished, participants are urged to nominate nine people – friends, family or work colleagues to take part as well.
Potential challenges include cycling running or walking nine kilometres completing nine acts of kindness, taking nine things to a charity shop or donating nine items to a foodbank, or learning new facts or new words,
Organiser Alison Insley, an on-call firefighter with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We are really excited about the 999 challenge. We know the last few months have been difficult, and we wanted to try and do something that would bring the community together, by getting people moving and perhaps picking up the phone to check on a vulnerable relative, friend or neighbour.
“You can do as much or as little as you like for the challenge, all we ask is that the challenges you set are safe and fun and if you can donate to the Fire Fighters Charity as part of the challenge, then even better.”
