A LOCAL view by a famed British artist is expected to sell for thousands when it goes under the hammer.
The view of the Church of St George in Newbold Pacey was painted by artist John Piper CH in 1979 for his exhibition in Marlborough Galleries, London.
It’s being sold by Woolley and Wallis on Wednesday August 26 with a starting price of £4,000.
John Piper was an official war artist in the Second World War and became a household name with his depictions of the bomb-damaged Coventry Cathedral, for which he later designed the stained glass baptistry windows.
