A HOSPICE is urgently seeking volunteers to help keep its charity shops running.
The Myton Hospice has taken a huge financial hit after lockdown forced it to close its shops – which fund the care of one in four patients.
The charity, which runs hospices in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick, has now reopened most of its shops, but is operating reduced opening hours.
Myton is urging anyone who has a few hours to spare – and who wants to help Myton continue providing its services to people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses and their families – to volunteer in one of its shops.
Megan, shop manager at Church Street in Rugby, said: “As a team we work together to develop volunteers’ interpersonal skills.
“My aim is to always remind the volunteers of their strengths and help them maximise their abilities, while promoting time management skills and applying themselves the best they can.”
Deanna, shop manager at Mill Street in Nuneaton, added: “All of our volunteers are like a family; we know each other so well.
“It’s really nice for me as the manager to know that they’re choosing to donate their time to be here.”
The charity is taking on temporary and part time volunteers with flexible hours.
