AN ANTIQUES-loving salvage hunter has used his lifelong hobby to open a shop in Coventry.

Tony Pedley has long been a collector of the unusual and vintage.

And now the 56-year-old is opening the ‘888 Emporium’ in the Foleshill Road, featuring vintage, retro, antique and salvage finds along with items which need some work, so shoppers and traders can make them their own.

Coventry-kid Tony ensured he had the space for his self-titled ‘vintage and salvage Aladdin’s Cave’ when looking for a new premises for Pedley’s Storage, which is based on the same site on Foleshill Road.

And the grandad-of-one says leaving the upcycling to customers and traders means prices stay competitive.

He said: “I have always loved the weird and wonderful, with my house filled with vintage finds.

“When I took on this premises and it came with the shop space I knew it was my chance to turn my passion into a business.

“I tirelessly source quirky items and salvage, and in the store we have all kinds of competitively priced goods, from movie props, furniture, household and garden items to artwork and war officer uniforms.

“It is not your normal antiques shop – we leave the fixing up to customers and traders which means no inflated prices.

“Fixer-uppers, artists, fabricators, traders and those just looking for some quirky goods for their home and garden, all are welcome.”

The store opens on Saturday September 26 at 888 Foleshill Road.
