A MAN has been jailed for causing death by careless driving, following an incident in Coventry
It was at 6.30pm on June 29, 2018, that Ionut Alexander Botezatu cut the corner onto Hall Green Road at the junction with Almond Tree Avenue in Wood End in his Ford Mondeo.
He collided with motorcyclist Mark Jackson.
A passing nurse stopped and tended to the 54-year-old, trying to resuscitate him but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The family of Mark described him as ‘a wonderful man who always rushed to help anyone who needed him’.
In a previous tribute, they said: “Mark was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by our entire community.”
Officers arrested Botezatu at the scene and the 30-year-old, of Fynford Road, Radford, Coventry, pleaded guilty to death by careless driving.
At Leamington Justice Centre he was sentenced to 16 months in prison and given a 44-month driving ban.
He will also have to take an extended retest before he is allowed back behind the wheel.
