New PCC launches recruitment drive to appoint top team

Coventry Editorial 22nd May, 2021   0

THE newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster is recruiting his top team to support him holding West Midlands Police to account and setting the strategic direction for England’s second largest force.

The PCC is to recruit two assistant commissioners and three board members, and potentially a deputy commissioner and Mr Foster says he is committed to ensuring the cost of the new team will be lower than the board it replaces.

A recent review of the Police and Crime Commissioner role led by the Home Secretary Priti Patel recommended that PCCs appoint a Deputy PCC to enhance the ‘resilience and capacity’ of the role.

The new team will be at least 50 per cent female and the PCC is working to ensure they represent the whole of the West Midlands.

Mr Foster said: “I am looking for a dynamic, hard-working team that can help me deliver the priorities I have been elected upon.

“The West Midlands faces big challenges over the coming years as we come out of the pandemic.

This new team will help me deliver upon the public’s priorities to make the region safer and reduce crime.

“This new team will be cost-effective. I will make sure that the cost of this board is less than the outgoing one it replaces.”

All of the new roles will be offered as contracts on a 12-month basis with the potential for annual renewal.
