Five City of Culture Artists in Residence appointed by Methodist Church at Coventry Central Hall

FIVE creatives have been appointed as Artists in Residence by The Methodist Church at Coventry Central Hall, as part of the city’s celebration as UK City of Culture.

Poet Emilie Lauren Jones, digital artist Emily Tyler (Instagram @emilytylerartist Facebook @tapdancingca), illustrator and cartoonist Mark Andrews and community artist Nikki Bovis-Coulter will be begin to run creative sessions in the heart of the city from June.

The fifth artist is conductor Seb Farrell who is involved in setting up a brand new Coventry City of Culture Orchestra.

He’s looking for instrumentalists to help form a festival chorus for the final celebration concert, and would like to hear local thoughts on what music best reflects Coventry’s Culture. To get involved go to www.coventryorchestra.co.uk/seb




The project marks the start of a year-long investment in the arts by the Coventry and Nuneaton Circuit of the Methodist Church, with art work focused on Coventry Central

Hall as well as other churches in the region.


The Rev’d Marcus Torchon, Superintendent Minister, said: “Coventry and Nuneaton Circuit are delighted to be providing this opportunity for the arts to be celebrated in Central Hall and other churches in the region during the City of Culture year.

“Making these residencies possible at Coventry Central Hall represents our commitment to celebrate the God-given creativity of all the people in our region.”

And Rev’d Stephen Willey, Minister at Central Hall said: “It is exciting to see our mission to nurture and celebrate faith, hope and love coming to life in Coventry this year through these artists.”
