TWO teenagers have been charged after a delivery driver was threatened with a machete in Coventry.
The attack – involving the boys aged 14 and 15 – happened in Shilton Lane on Tuesday.
It is alleged the boys demanded the keys and stole her mobile phone, but she managed to snatch the machete off them and they ran away towards a canal.
The boys, aged 14 and 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article.
They are due to appear before Coventry Magistrates Court today (Thursday).
Ahead of the Christmas shopping period the force has issued safety advice and has asked people to look out for delivery drivers.
There is always a huge rise in online sales and deliveries at this time of year. But for those making those important deliveries, it may also mean a rise in attacks.
Anyone who finds themself a victim or witness to a crime like this needs to convey accurate information about what happened as quickly as possible.
This increases the chances of finding and arresting those responsible.
People have been urged to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour.
