OCTAVIAN DROOBERS ORIENTEERING CLUB members Sheila Carey and Kirsten Strain claimed victory at this year’s British Night Orienteering Championships held on Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire.
Carey and Strain overcame testing conditions to win the W75 class and W35 class respectively.
And Carey won in a time of 68 minutes 55 seconds on the 2.775km course which involved 80 metres of climb.
Strain was victorious in a time of 70 minutes and 47 seconds on the 5.625km course with 190 metres of climb.
Elsewhere, Philip Vokes and Nathan Lawson finished second and third respectively in the 9.7km M21 class with a massive 370 metres of climb.
On the longest and most challenging course Vokes finished in a time of 72 minutes 43 seconds closely followed by Lawson in 73 minutes 22 seconds.
The next local event takes place in the woods at Hartshill Hayes Country Park, near Nuneaton, on Sunday, March 13.
