WASPS remain firmly in the Gallagher Premiership play-off picture after easing to a bonus point 41-12 win against Worcester Warriors.
Gabriel Oghre crossed twice with Tom West, Josh Bassett, Elliott Stooke and Tom Willis all on target as Wasps secured an eighth straight home win at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The result means Wasps sit eighth in the Premiership table, six points behind Northampton Saints who occupy the final play-off spot with three matches left to play.
And Lee Blackett’s side made a fast start when West scrambled over from close range on three minutes after some sustained pressure on the Worcester line with the score converted by Jimmy Gopperth.
Gopperth then added a routine penalty later in the half before Bassett scored his first try since New Year’s Day on 31 minutes when he finished off a superb routine from a lineout in the right corner to send Wasps into the break with a 15-point lead.
Worcester finally troubled the scoreboard on 47 minutes when Harri Doel touched down in the corner with Billy Searle adding the conversion from the touchline.
However, Wasps stretched their lead on 52 minutes when Stooke went in under the posts from Charlie Atkinson’s pass which left a simple conversion for Gopperth.
And Wasps scored their bonus point try through Oghre on 64 minutes when he fell over the line from a powerful rolling maul with Jacob Umaga adding the extras.
The visitors grabbed their second try on 69 minutes when Ted Hill grounded close to the corner after some poor decision making in the Wasps ranks.
Wasps finished the game strongly as Oghre scored his second try from a maul on 78 minutes following a check by the TMO.
And Willis completed the scoring with the clock in the red when he tackled a Worcester player inside Warriors’ in-goal area before grounding the loose ball with Umaga converting.
Wasps are next in action away at London Irish on Sunday, May 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Brentford Community Stadium.
