MIDLANDS online retailer UK Flooring Direct has launched an Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) programme that will see every member of staff get a fully paid day off to give services to a charity or good cause.

The firm, who employ 200 people across Coventry and Hinkley, have partnered with charities including RSPCA Coventry and District Branch and Hinckley Homeless Group to give their team volunteering options.

They’ve also partnered with Shine A Light, a Coventry charity that supports families with children affected by cancer.

Their final partner, Make Good Grow, is a social enterprise that matches businesses and people with 170 good causes they can support.

UK Floor Direct, who is the UK’s leading wood and laminate flooring retailer, also gave their staff the ability to choose their own causes should they want to.

UK Flooring Direct’s HR Director, Faye Summers said: “UK Flooring Direct has always prided itself on being a positive contributor to the local economy and to the local community and our new ESV programme really builds on that.

“It’s a great way to engage the team and the feedback we’ve had has been really positive, particularly at a time when we know things are tough for a lot of people.

“There is strong evidence that volunteering as team helps to boost morale and wellbeing.”

Make Good Grows Rob Langley-Swain added: “Being a volunteer and utilising your professional skills is so impactful to good causes and that’s where we come in.

“We can match people with organisations that need those skills for a certain piece of work or project.

“It’s a great way to give back.”
