Coventry will be holding its own Reconnection Tour tomorrow

Coventry Editorial 1st Jul, 2022   0

PEOPLE in Coventry will join together on Saturday afternoon, July 2, to celebrate how they are supporting each other in difficult times.

It is part of the UK-wide Reconnection Tour, which is travelling through the country.

The tour is a partnership between Grapevine Coventry and Warwickshire, charity Engage Britain and groups all aiming to demonstrate the power of communities to transform people’s lives.

The Coventry tour stop is hosted by Connecting for Good Cov.

A host of activities over four-and-a-half hours start with people meeting at Little Park Street at midday before a Walk and Talk through the city centre until 1.30pm.

It will feature stories from local changemakers and a few surprises along the way.

Next will be a festival at the new Nauls Mill Underpark including music, crafts, dancing, an art exhibition and food.

Interactive activities and quizzes will also be at the festival, and there will be a chance to get involved in ongoing community action.

New national research commissioned by Engage Britain found 36 per cent of people surveyed in the West Midlands have felt closer to their community over the last two years.

Grapevine Deputy CEO Mel Smith said: “This is all about local people taking action on the things they care about, looking at our challenges and acting on them together.

“Whether you are already connected to things going on in Coventry or you’re looking to meet like-minded people, we guarantee there will be an array of things to inspire you.”
