FOOTBALL - Coventry United Ladies to go part-time amidst further financial difficulties

Coventry Editorial 1st Jul, 2022 Updated: 1st Jul, 2022   0

COVENTRY United Ladies will move to a part-time playing model next season as the club faces further financial concerns.

The club confirmed the news in a statement last night, having been saved from liquidation in January by current owner Lewis Taylor for which they received a 10-point deduction.

However, the club believes this decision will help the Red and Greens become a more sustainable club in the future with the intention to return to a full-time playing model.

This move could force the club’s remaining full-time contracted players to leave, which includes captain Katie Wilkinson and at least three others, in order to sustain the club’s wage bill.

Former manager Jay Bradford and assistant coach Jo Potter have already departed the club following their great escape from relegation last season.

The club are expected to compete in the Women’s Championship next season.
