COVENTRY Blaze have confirmed the signing of Czechia centreman Radek Veselý for the 2022/23 Elite League season.
The 26-year-old has played almost all of his professional career in his home country between the Czech Extraliga and second division.
Veselý most recently spent a season with Berani Zlín in Czechia’s top division contributing nine points in 48 games.
In the Czech Extraliga, the Pelhrimov native has played 100 regular season games with 17 points (five goals, 12 assists).
At second division level, he has iced in 262 regular season and playoff games with 138 points (61 goals, 77 assists).
Developed through the Slavia Prague and Pirati Chomutov system, Veselý has represented his country at all junior levels up to under-20’s winning a gold medal twice.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said: “Radek is a big centre that moves well and has really good skill. He played last season in the top Czech league and did a very good job there.
“For us, he will have the ability to play in more offensive situations, to which he has proven he is more than capable of during his career in Czechia2.
“He gives us a big body with pace through the middle, and plays well on both sides of the puck.”
