COVENTRY College has partnered with REVAMP Training Limited (RTL) to get industry specialists to lead newly developed courses as part of its Charge Up Your Future scheme.
The new courses will be given at the college’s new £1.8million electric vehicle and retrofit training facility and will be the first of their kind in the region.
The Charge Up Your Future scheme aims to help West Midlands employers with the industrial challenges of climate change.
It will also prepare learners for careers in emission-free motoring.
The five-day electrification course will incorporate the principles of Battery Development and Deployment and will launch from September 12 before being repeated from October 17.
The courses cover battery technology fundamentals, lithium-ion battery manufacture and battery storage, with four-day Hydrogen training planned for November and December.
Earlier this year, Coventry College unveiled plans to help employers and Motor Vehicle and Construction students prepare for a zero-carbon future through its new dedicated training centre.
Coventry College’s vice principal for Business Growth, engagement and partnerships, Gemma Knott said: “We hope to rise to the challenge of ensuring that the various industries operating in the region and beyond can safeguard themselves from the imminent changes posed by climate change, in turn having a positive impact on the planet, as well as on the Coventry and Warwickshire workforce.”
