THE LATEST figures show the West Midlands is home to 206,475 companies, highlighting its popularity as a place to do business.
The figures come from software specialists Inform Direct, based on statistics from Companies House and the Office for National Statistics.
Of the more than 200,000, Coventry now has a total of 24,618 businesses registered in the city.
This milestone follows a consistent business growth trend with the number of registered firms in the region increasing by 25 per cent in the past five years.

Among the range of thriving sectors in the West Midlands are advanced manufacturing, business, professional and financial services, creative and digital technologies, low carbon and life sciences.
Its success has been attributed to a diverse talent pool, from nine world-class institutions producing 58,000 graduates each year, and its location at the centre of a connected transport network of air, rail, tram and bus.
Close proximity to London and within a four-hour drive for 90 per cent of the UK population is also a factor.
