COVENTRY support worker Ayemidi Timiyan has been crowned digital champion of the year at the Making Space Awards.

Ayemidi, known as Timi, works at Cheylesmore’s extra care housing scheme Bevan Court and was recognised for her work upgrading digital systems there.

She worked around-the-clock shafts to ensure colleagues and tenants weren’t disrupted while records were moved.

Making Space is a national charity that provides care at the scheme.

Motivational speaker, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and the world’s fastest single-leg amputee over 10km Andy Grant presented Timi with the award and trophy at a ceremony at Manchester’s Mercure Hotel.

More than 250 people were nominated for the Making Space awards, with three people or teams shortlisted for each category.

Judges praised Timi for taking on the digitalisation tasks so her colleagues could work more efficiently.

The inaugural Making Space Colleague Awards recognise people and teams who go above and beyond expectations to make a difference to the lives of the people supported by Making Space.

Timi said: “I was honoured and very happy to win the award and to be recognised by Making Space.

“I was nominated alongside people from across the UK and I didn’t think I’d stand a chance.

“I owe this to my team leader, Tracey, for always believing in me.”
