WARWICKSHIRE Darts County Youth team edged out Lancashire 7-6 to maintain their perfect start to the season.
The game started with the ladies’ matches, following a delay after the Lancashire team were stuck in traffic, as Warwickshire team captain Rosie O’Connor once again allowed other players to play stage games.
However, Kacie O’Connor fell to a 3-0 defeat against difficult opponent Eleanor Cairns in the first match, despite throwing an average of 14.21.
Next up was club captain Isobel Gash who produced a stunning comeback to win 3-2 from two sets down with an avergae of 12.94.
And Emmie O’Connor ensured Warwickshire took a 2-1 lead into the under-18’s section after she claimed an impressive 3-2 victory with an 8.48 average.
After the break, the under-18’s started with a defeat as 10-year-old Jacob Griffiths lost 3-0 in a steady performance that saw him average 15.92.
And this was followed by another 3-0 defeat for Charlie Moreton, against a very tough opponent in Charlie Voorees, as he finished with a 14.35 average.
However, Mitch Richardson restored some pride on his stage debut with an excellent 3-1 win and 18.54 average in a superb performance.
And Ben Gamble drew Warwickshire level in the section with a 3-0 win and 18.79 average with a dominant display.
Lancashire clinched the under-18 section, after Warwickshire’s Keelan Dockerty was beaten 3-0 with a 16.75 average in the final match, to level the score at 4-4 heading into the under-21’s section.
And Warwickshire made the perfect start as Harry Earp thrived off the electric atmosphere t0 win 3-0 with an 18.33 average.
This was followed by another 3-0 win for Luke Morris who showed his cool with a 180 with his first three darts of the match as he averaged 20.31 in a quickfire victory.
And Warwickshire sealed overall victory when Sam Matthews fired in an impressive 20.88 average, which included a 180, with the performance of the day in a 3-0 win.
With victory secured, Harry Franklin was next to step up onto the stage for Warwickshire and checked out 32 in the first leg but was unable to land another finish in a 3-1 defeat to Liam Mason with an average of 22.10.
And Alfie Busby was last up for Warwickshire as he scored 95 and 100 in the first leg but was unable to checkout when left with double 10 as his opponent took advantage to win 3-0.
Elsewhere, Harley Bennett and Alfie Dunn played for the reserves for the first time as the former claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory with a 15.99 average.
And eight-year-old Alfie produced a spirited performance in a 3-0 defeat with an impressive 11.93 average which included a score of 108 in leg three.
Campbell O’Hagan Cooper also impressed with a 3-0 win and 22.10 average as all reserve players played a major part in the team spirit and atmosphere throughout the day.
Over 100 supporters were in attendance at a packed Radford Social Club in Coventry.
Warwickshire’s next home game is against local rivals Worcestershire on Sunday, December 18 with the action to start at 12.30pm at Radford Social Club in Coventry whilst doors will open at 11am.
