COVENTRY Scouts have launched their Christmas raffle to raise cash for their trip to the world scout jamboree next summer in South Korea.
Earlier this year 18 scouts aged between 13 and 17 were selected to represent Coventry at the jamboree alongside 40,000 others around the world.
The Jamboree aims to bring youngsters together to take action on issues including peace, sustainability and equality, and shows them how they can make a difference.
This opportunity will set the scouts back £80,000, and through activities such as running tombolas, making and selling handmade goods and crafts, and litter picking they have raised £35,000 so far.
The cash will also go towards the training camps needed to prepare for the jamboree as well as funding other scouts in less fortunate areas of the world.
Local and national businesses have donated over 50 prizes towards the raffle, including a signed Coventry City shirt, a smart TV, tickets to Strictly Come Dancing live and much more.
Tickets cost £2 each and can be bought at the Earlsdon Post Office, The Potting Shed at Russell’s Garden Centre and The Trading Post at Rough Close Scout Campsite.
The prize draw will take place on December 18.
