Coventry Building Society Arena enjoys 'record-breaking' 2022

THE COVENTRY Building Society (CBS) Arena had a record-breaking year in 2022, welcoming almost 1million visitors to sporting events, concerts and exhibitions.

The home to Coventry City Football Club hosted more than 630 events last year, with notable events including the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Rugby League World Cup and concerts from The Killers and Rammstein.

Those events helped boost last year’s total attendance by over 348,000.

The arena won the ‘Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Venue of the Year under 20,000sq m’ also took bronze in the Best Stadium Events Venue category at the Stadium Experience Awards.




Paul Michael, The CBS Arena’s commercial director, said: “Set against the backdrop of a difficult year, our team has produced an extraordinary 12 months of business at the venue.

“Now we have the certainty of our new ownership we are set for an even stronger 2023.”


Coventry Building Society Arena was also a finalist for Best Business Event Venue at the West Midlands Growth Company Awards and a finalist in the Venue of the Year category for the Midland Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards.

The stadium saw the opening of the new £6.3million Commonwealth Convention Centre, which increased the indoor conference and exhibition space to 7,750 sq m and included the unveiling of a new south pavilion entrance.

Bookings at the on-site hotel Doubletree by Hilton also rose by 28 per cent from 2021 whilst the on-site Grosvenor Casino attracted 125,000 visitors.
