TICKETS are now available for Coventrians to see the world-famous Dippy the Dinosaur ahead of its three-year residence in the city.

The 292-bone model of a diplodocus skeleton is 26-metres long and 4.17metres high and will be featured in the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum’s covered front court from Monday, February 20.

Dippy’s three-year stay in Coventry comes after a 110-year tenure at the Natural History Museum followed by an eight-city tour across the UK.

The tour saw a ‘Dippy effect’ for each venue and region welcoming the pre-historic visitor, with the eight cities seeing a combined two million visitors and just under £36million of economic benefit.

Tickets to see Dippy are free and the Herbert will be extending its opening hours during the February half-term to allow more people to see the beloved dinosaur.

Coventry City Council’s cabinet member for housing and communities, Coun David Welsh said: “Having Dippy on display in Coventry is fantastic for the city.

“Not only is this a thrilling opportunity for visitors to learn about natural history but it is also expected to bring more tourists to the city and have a positive impact on the local economy.”
