Frida Kahlo exhibition extends stay at Coventry's Reel Store

Coventry Editorial 28th Jan, 2023   0

THE AWARD-winning exhibition looking at the life and work of Frida Kahlo has been extended until Sunday, February 26.

The exhibition digitally showcases over 100 works of art, literacy and photography by the acclaimed Mexican artist.

Visitors will be able to explore Kahlo’s work, her famous self-portrait The Wounded Deer as well as different parts of her identity- as a woman, painter and icon.

The exhibition is narrated using extracts from Kahlo’s diary and combines academic research with 360-degree projection and a soundtrack of traditional European and Mexican music.

The show first opened in Madrid before spending time in Buenos Aires, and has received rave reviews since its UK launch in November.

And the store will be running a range of drop-in bookable activities such as children’s arts and crafts workshops over February half-term to celebrate the extension.

The Reel Store director Chris Michaels said: “The multi-award-winning exhibition has already received rave reviews from thousands of visitors, and we are delighted to welcome more audiences to experience this incredibly moving snapshot of Kahlo’s iconic story.

“The exhibition is a truly world-class digital experience, and we look forward to building on its success as we shape the future programme and role of The Reel Store in the UK’s digital creative ecosystem.”

Ticket prices start from £10.
