Foleshill residents reaping rewards from new community cafe

Coventry Editorial 31st Jan, 2023   0

RESIDENTS are reaping the benefits following the opening of a new community cafe in Foleshill.

The cafe in Foleshill Community Centre was funded by a £100,000 grant from the FCC Communities Foundation.

It’s designed to complement the centres’ social supermarket, as well as the advice and support services already provided by Feeding Coventry.

The space provides a chance for community groups to learn cooking skills and eat together as well as being available to be hired out.

The cafe is open as a warm hub for people struggling to heat their homes to go to as a safe space, and throughout January they were co-hosts of the ‘Cosy Creative’ City of Culture project, which provided food and artistic workshops to Coventrians in need.

Feeding Coventry Chief Executive Helen Needham said: “Feeding Coventry believes that everyone has the right to high-quality, nutritious food and that is why this new cafe is such an important part of our expansion.

“This new space will enable us to host families and community groups in Foleshill, allowing people a chance to come together, share skills and food and develop new friendships and supportive networks.

“We want our new cafe to be a place where people feel relaxed, and enjoy fantastic food.”
