Appeal for more kind-hearted Coventrians to become city hosts

Coventry Editorial 5th Apr, 2023   0

KIND-hearted Coventrians with a love for where they live will be able to apply to become City Hosts.

The first City Hosts were enlisted to offer visitors a friendly face and a helping hand during hundreds of City of Culture events and those wanting to undertake the role must be friendly, helpful and polite.

The City Host programme is led by community interest company EnV which received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2012.

Roles will include customer service, meet and greets, registration and marshalling.

Currently, City Hosts are supporting the Dippy Exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and providing guidance across the city as digital champion volunteers.

They will also be helping out at upcoming events such as Glow for Myton, MotoFest, and Godiva Festival.

Successful applicants will take part in ‘get set’ training events in the city centre across May and June.

Research showed City Hosts who volunteered during the UK City of Culture year gained confidence, learned new skills and improved their wellbeing, with 94 per cent interacting with people they would not have normally.

Applicants must be over 18 years old. Visit env.uk.com/cityhosts or call 02475 122675 for more information and to apply.
