THREE teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 16-year-old was attacked in Coventry.

Police were called to the junction of Rotherham Road and Holbrook Lane just before 4pm yesterday (Monday) after a boy was hit on the head with a hammer.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an assault at the junction of Holbrook Lane and Rotherham Road in Coventry just before 3.50pm yesterday (Monday).

“An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found one male teenage patient.”

She added he received treatment for potentially serious injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

It is now thought the injuries he sustained are not currently considered life-threatening.

Following enquiries in the neighbourhood, three 16-year-old boys were arrested and are in custody at this time.

A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We appreciate this incident will be concerning to the community and would like to reassure everyone that this was an isolated incident without cause for wider alarm.”

Officers will be stepping up increased patrols in the surrounding area throughout today.
