HEATHER Gilks, from Coventry, retained the women’s nett title at the English Open for golfers with a disability.

Gilks kept her crown after winning the same event last year, with a one-shot victory ahead of Cambridge Country Club’s Michelle Lau.

And Martine Gilks, also from Coventry, was third, three shots behind Heather and two shots adrift of runner-up Lau.

Heather shot a first round score of 75 and just did enough to retain her title with a second round 79 despite Lau’s 77.
