Sikh Union Coventry to hold charity walk

Coventry Editorial 15th Sep, 2023   0

MEMBERS of Sikh Union Coventry are inviting people to join them for the group’s 36th annual charity walk this Sunday, September 17.

The 15km walk will start and finish at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Prakash on Harnall Lane West and will call at several Gurdwaras, Mandirs and Churches in Foleshill, including Coventry Cathedral.

Funds raised this year will support Sahara Coventry which operates out of the Methodist Central Hall and aims to improve the mental wellbeing of Asian elders and carers.

It will also support the Lord Mayor’s charities – Muscular Dystrophy Charity, the Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind, and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity – and cash will go to Sikh Union Local and several international projects.

Coventry Lord Mayor Coun Jaswant Singh Birdi will perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony to start the walk along with Lady Godiva, Pru Porretta and Sikh Union Chairman Palvinder Chana.

Several other dignitaries have been invited including members of the British army and Coventry MPs.

People will be able to register at 9am on the day.
