Coventry rugby team brave the shave for cancer charity

Coventry Editorial 19th Sep, 2023   0

A COVENTRY rugby team which has felt the effects of cancer first-hand will be braving the shave to raise much-needed cash for charity.

Earlsdon RFC Colts, an under-18s team, will be shaving their heads Friday (September 22), with the cash split evenly between Rosie’s Rainbow Pantry and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team decided to take on the head shave after the mum of one of their team recently started chemotherapy due to lung cancer, which she’s been battling for most of this year.

The head shave will take place at Earlsdon Rugby Club.

So far the club has raised almost £1,300 on their GoFundMe page, smashing their £1,000 original target.

‘Rosie’s Rainbow Pantry’ is a Coventry charity heavily linked to the club and aims to provide food and provisions for families whose children are receiving palliative care.

The charity, set up in memory of Rosie Abbott who passed away aged just 15 after being diagnosed with cancer four years earlier, also helps to support families across England.
