Man alleged to have stolen from Bedworth shop five times charged

A MAN who is alleged to have hit the same Bedworth shop five times in around a month has been charged with a series of shoplifting and violent offences in the town.

Mana Gill, 28, of no fixed abode has been charged with five counts of theft from a shop, two counts of attempted theft from a shop and two counts of assault.

The list of allegations includes Gill stealing confectionery worth £115 from a shop on Goodyers Lane on August 25, before stealing more items from the same store three days later.

Gill is also alleged to have stolen alcohol worth £60 at the Goodyers Lane shop on September 2 before returning on September 7 and 21 to steal more booze with a total value of £95.

On September 22 he is alleged to have tried to steal cash from a shop on Mill Street, before attempting to steal medication from a store on the same road during which two members of staff were reported to have been assaulted.

He was arrested following this incident and is due to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, September 25).
